Jan Oeking focuses his practice on cross-border and domestic corporate and commercial matters. He advises on the formation and operation of corporations, limited liability companies and other legal entities, as well as on mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions. He also assists clients in connection with a variety of commercial contracts and compliance issues under US federal and state law.
Prior to joining Reiss+Preuss LLP, Jan practiced at a law firm in Essen, Germany, focusing on corporate, commercial, real estate and construction law and related disputes. Prior to that Jan completed clerkships (Referendariat) at courts in Stuttgart and Constance, Germany.
Jan is dual-trained, having graduated from law school in Germany and the U.S. While at Georgetown, Jan was a fellow at the Institute of International Economic Law and at the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless.
Jan is fluent in English, German and French. Born and educated in Germany, Jan spent an exchange year in Williamson, West Virginia, where he attended high school and supported the varsity football team as a kicker.
