Reiss+Preuss Lawyers Recognized as Super Lawyers

Reiss+Preuss is proud to announce that the 2016 New York Super Lawyers list has once again recognized Guy A. Reiss and Henry J. Cittone, for the fourth and second consecutive year, respectively.

Guy Reiss was selected for his expertise in International Matters, and Henry J. Cittone was chosen for his expertise in Intellectual Property.

The selection process is based on a combination of peer recognition and professional achievement. Super Lawyers names only five percent of New York metro area lawyers to this honor.

Jascha D. Preuss recently was a featured speaker at Roundtable Seminar "Doing Business in the USA - mehr Präsenz, Markt und Erfolg" organized by the Swiss American Chamber of Commerce and Swiss Export in Zurich. Jascha gave a presentation on "Rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen der Unternehmensgründung in den USA" (Legal Framework for Starting a Business in the U.S.). Erik M. Tikkanen has joined Reiss+Preuss LLP as an Associate.

Reiss+Preuss LLP is pleased to announce that Erik Tikkanen has joined the firm as an associate.

Erik advises clients on corporate transactions and other corporate and commercial matters. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of Law, where he graduated in 2012.  Erik will further strengthen the German language capabilities in our team, having studied the language intensively, including as an exchange student at Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen and at the law school of Freie Universität Berlin.  His profile and contact details can be found here.

Professor Berwin Cohen to head Reiss+Preuss LLP tax practice.

Reiss+Preuss LLP announced today that Berwin Cohen, a professor in the LL.M. Taxation Program of New York Law School, has joined the firm as Tax Counsel. 

Jascha D. Preuss, Managing Partner of Reiss+Preuss LLP, said, “Berwin’s broad tax experience advising investors, financial institutions, and both new and old economy companies matches our goal to provide comprehensive legal support for our international clients’ needs when doing business in the United States.” 

Professor Cohen’s tax practice includes advice on the tax aspects of structuring U.S. investments, such as the choice of entity for U.S. subsidiaries, and on a wide array of transactions involving U.S. entities or assets. In addition to his transactional work, Professor Cohen has extensive experience representing international private and institutional clients during various stages of Internal Revenue Service audits regarding diverse tax issues.  At New York Law School, Professor Cohen’s classes examine the tax aspects of capital structures and entity choices, tax strategies and tax compliance procedures.  In addition to his responsibilities at New York Law School, Professor Cohen has guest lectured at Stanford University and Westmoreland College.

Prior to joining Reiss+Preuss LLP, Professor Cohen was the Director of a structured finance department in the New York office of Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd.  Prior to that he was a Senior Tax Associate at Mayer Brown LLP (in Palo Alto and New York), and before that he was Assistant Vice President and Counsel at Credit Suisse (New York).  He started his career as Counsel in the New York office of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in 2000.

Henry adds his broad intellectual property expertise to the Firm. He represents clients in intellectual property disputes and in licensing transactions and also advises on IP matters in connection with corporate transactions. OCTOBER 13, 2010

On October 13, 2010, Reiss+Preuss LLP hosted a breakfast meeting of The American Council on Germany. Dr. Constanze Stelzenmüller, Senior Transatlantic Fellow at The German Marshall Fund of the United States, discussed "What's the Future for the Transatlantic Relationship in a Multipolar World?", followed by an animated discussion with the audience, which consisted of business leaders, representatives of the diplomatic corps and members of the academia.
